Suggestions for Cleaning & Disinfecting JIMMYCASE iPhone Wallet Cases

Many of our customers are asking how to clean and disinfect their JIMMYCASE and which cleaners it can handle. We are following Apple's suggestions outlined below. Apple suggests using 70 % isopropyl alcohol wipes or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.  We have been using both for the last few weeks and JIMMYCASE can handle them. We can't speak to the disinfecting capabilities of other cleaners, but we have also been using whatever we have on hand on our cases: 60% alcohol hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, 70 % isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel. JIMMYCASE can handle them all.

Below, we have included information from Apple, The CDC, and a video from CNN. We hope this is helpful.

Apple's Recommendations and Guidelines on Cleaning & Disinfecting

Apple on Disinfecting

"Is it OK to use a disinfectant on my Apple product?
Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces. Don't use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don't submerge your Apple product in any cleaning agents. Don't use on fabric or leather surfaces."

Apple on General Cleaning

"Apple products are made with a variety of materials, and each material might have specific cleaning requirements. To get started, here are some tips that apply to all products:

  • Use only a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, or similar items.
  • Avoid excessive wiping, which might cause damage.
  • Unplug all external power sources, devices, and cables.
  • Keep liquids away from the product, unless otherwise noted for specific products.
  • Don't get moisture into any openings.
  • Don't use aerosol sprays, bleaches, or abrasives.
  • Don't spray cleaners directly onto the item."

CDC Guidelines on Cleaning & Disinfecting

The CDC does not provide specific guidelines for cleaning iPhones. They do, however, provide a detailed overview of household cleaning and disinfecting techniques. Link below.

Video from CNN on keeping your iPhone Clean

Keep your fingers away from your eyes, nose and mouth ... but what about your smartphone? In the race to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, CNN's Hadas Gold investigates and demonstrates the best way to clean your mobile device.

Hi

Thanks for your awesome content on disinfecting iPhone, during this pandemic it is a must to do.

I liked the point mentioning the Apple recommends you use 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipes to clean iPhones, iPads, and other devices during the current coronavirus pandemic. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204172
